Tips

Gratitude and Appreciation
Tipping is a common practice in Tanzania and is viewed as a thoughtful way to acknowledge good service. Your guides, drivers, cooks, and support crew work hard to ensure your safari is enjoyable, comfortable, and memorable.

Recommended Tipping Guidelines:

  • Driver-Guides: $10–20 per day per group, depending on the quality of service.

  • Camping Safari Crew: For camping trips, tipping cooks and camp assistants $5–10 per day per group is suggested.

  • Lodge & Hotel Staff: Optional but appreciated — usually $5–10 per room per day for housekeeping and waitstaff.

Currency & Method:
Tips are usually given in US Dollars (USD) or Tanzanian Shillings (TZS).
Cash is preferred. You may give tips individually, or hand them to your head guide to distribute fairly among the team.

Group Tipping:
For group travel, pooling tips is often more convenient and ensures that every contributing staff member receives their fair share.
